Threats of lawsuits, criminal prosecution highlight latest Weld County oversight board drama

As is often the case, the Tribune misses the forest for the trees. Trying to stir up personal controversy, Silvy presents the dispute between Mr. Grillos and Mr. Stille as being almost personal, focusing on the back and forth about the emails, etc. (We also have the entire email sequence)

In fact, the issue that should be the major concern for all County residents is that after the Council voted to request the budget increase, the Chair of the Council treated it as a joke, didn’t properly submit the request, and then met with the Commissioners to joke about it some more.

The fact that he somehow attacked Ms. Karen Grillos in an email to Bruce Barker further demonstrates Mr. Stille’s lack of professionalism and frankly, lack of a proper demeanor to even be on the County Council.

But nowhere does Silvy mention that in fact, an elected official has a RESPONSIBILITY to execute the duties of his office under State law. By failing to properly represent the wishes of the Council, Mr. Stille may, in fact, have committed a criminal act, and his joking about it with the Commissioners just confirms his negligence.

Weld County residents should be appalled at this behavior, and should strive to elect new people to the Council who will take their responsibility to represent the citizens and not just be patsies for the Commissioners.
